BOERNE, TX - Boerne Independent School District Superintendent Kristin Craft, Ed.D., has been named one of the Superintendents to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association. The 2025-26 cohort honors 30 of the most innovative, communicative superintendents in the country.

Craft joined the district in January 2024. Under Dr. Craft’s visionary leadership, the district has attained 2 additional A-ratings from the Texas Education Agency – becoming one of only 31 districts in the entire state to have achieved 6 straight years of A-ratings. The district’s college, career, and military readiness scores have also grown to 95%, exceeding the state average by 19 points. In 2025, Dr. Craft was recognized by Sam Houston State University as one of their Distinguished Educators of the Year.

As a superintendent, she is committed to protecting classrooms and teachers. She established the Budget Strategy and Advisory Committee in late 2024 to help assess the district’s financial future, and made strategic cuts totaling nearly $1.5M at the district’s central office last spring. In November 2025, Dr. Craft helped the district pass its first-ever voter-approved tax ratification election, generating millions of locally-controlled dollars budgeted to improve staff compensation.

Board president Kristi Schmidt shared, “Since her hiring in January 2024, Dr. Craft has worked with our board to implement the most consistent, innovative, and transparent communication practices we have ever experienced. Dr. Craft’s communication strategies have made BISD safer, more transparent, and more responsive.”
